SEA.AI announces that its machine vision technology will be featured at the upcoming “Single-handed around the World” (“En Solitaire autour du Monde”) exhibition at the Musée national de la Marine (National Maritime Museum in Paris). This temporary exhibition, opening on October 16, 2024, celebrates the daring spirit of solo sailing, the human adventure of this race and the technological advancements that support sailors on their solitary journeys across the world’s oceans. It takes place on the occasion of the tenth edition of the Vendée Globe (2024-2025).
The “En Solitaire autour du Monde” exhibition is curated by Lénaïg L’Aot-Lombart, assistant to the administrator of the Musée national de la Marine-Château de Brest, Olivier Le Carrer, navigator and former editor-in-chief of the magazine Bateaux, and Didier Ravon, navigator and former editor-in-chief of the magazine Voiles et Voiliers.
The exhibition highlights the extraordinary achievements of sailors who navigate the seas alone. The exhibition focuses on the courage, resilience, and innovation required for solo sailing, making it the ideal venue to showcase SEA.AI—a technology developed with the invaluable contributions of skippers, who helped create the critical dataset necessary for its AI to detect floating objects and hazards.
"Being featured in the ‘En Solitaire autour du Monde’ exhibition is a great honor for SEA.AI. Our technology was developed in close collaboration with skippers who understand the challenges of solo sailing better than anyone. This exhibition not only honors their contributions but also highlights how SEA.AI can increase safety and save lives at sea."
Solenn Gouerou, Head of Marketing at SEA.AI.
SEA.AI: Developed with Sailors, for Sailors
SEA.AI’s system represents a significant leap forward in maritime safety, combining optical and thermal sensors with artificial intelligence. With data contributed by experienced skippers over several years, SEA.AI is designed to detect floating objects and other hazards in real-time, significantly reducing collision risks. This collaboration has resulted in a technology that truly understands the needs of solo sailors, offering them an extra layer of safety and peace of mind.
"The biggest risk in racing is collisions, so the most important thing is to look ahead. At night, now, SEA.AI (OSCAR) looks ahead, and it’s rarely wrong. It’s up there, always watching. Honestly, it should be on all boats."
Romain Attanasio, a renowned skipper who contributed to the development of SEA.AI
An Exhibition of Innovation and Exploration
The inclusion of SEA.AI in the “En Solitaire autour du Monde” exhibition underscores the Musée national de la Marine’s dedication to showcasing both the historical and modern aspects of solo sailing. By featuring new technologies like SEA.AI, the exhibition provides a comprehensive look at how innovation continues to drive the evolution of maritime exploration.

About the Musée national de la Marine
The Musée national de la Marine possesses one of the world’s finest and oldest collections, tracing 250 years of French maritime and naval stories. With sites in Paris and on the Atlantic and Mediterranean coasts – Brest, Port-Louis, Rochefort and Toulon – it is a museum of art and history, science and technology, human adventure and popular traditions all in one. With the reopening in November 2023 of its parisian site after 6 years of work, the Musée national de la Marine has reinvented itself as a contemporary maritime cultural hotspot, open to the world and abreast of its times, a forum for encounters and exchanges focusing on the great questions which arise on our blue planet.
