Fonctionnalités
SEA.AI can detect any floating object on the watersurface, regardless of the materials involved, whether it’s wood, steel, plastic, or organic matter.

SEA.AI detects objects conventional systems like radar or AIS might miss and thus provides an additional layer of safety to your vessel and crew.

The high sensitive thermal cameras ensures detection day and night.

SEA.AI can classify objects like sailing or power boats, ships, buoys and persons in the water. Any other or unkown objects items will be marked as unknown hazard.

Yes, SEA.AI systems are equipped with thermal cameras, granting them night vision capabilities. Even in adverse weather conditions, their thermal cameras outperform the human eye. Considering the usual tasks undertaken by a crew – whether helming, navigation, or other duties – SEA.AI systems remain steadfastly vigilant, like watchful ‘barrelmen’ atop the mast. Their consistent vigilance ensures real-time alerts in the presence of potential hazards.

SEA.AI is using AI based horizon stabilisation to ensure best performance in choppy conditions. An in-built IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) also measures any movement and acceleration of the boat in realtime. In addition SEA.AI Sentry is also mechanically stabilized to compensate waves.

Since SEA.AI is mounted as high as possible (i.e. the mast top), it can see over the wave crests and has proved to be a lot more reliable in comparison to what a crew member can see.

SEA.AI has been designed for the harsh conditions at sea. Over the last couple of years, the systems have been used and tested by numerous ocean racing sailing teams all over the planet in the roughest conditions.
SEA.AI is a machine vision system based on thermal (IR) and color cameras. It is using latest AI technology to detect anything what is floating on the water.

SEA.AI is an intuitive and easy to use device, providing an extra layer of safety by detecting and alarming of objects a radar might miss.
AIS is an active transponder systems used on commercial vessels and some recriational boats.

SEA.AI can detect objects even without or with an inactive AIS using machine vision technology.

SEA.AI seamlessly integrates cameras, including thermal cameras, with cutting-edge computer vision technology. The incorporation of machine vision in SEA.AI enables automatic floating object detection in the maritime environment, a valuable feature that enhances safety and situational awareness at sea.

This added AI proves invaluable, especially when you’re occupied with other tasks. Even during passive camera monitoring, SEA.AI stands out by issuing audible alarms when potential risks or hazards are detected, offering a crucial advantage in multitasking scenarios.

SEA.AI introduces AI-driven enhancements to thermal cameras, such as object detection or tracking, perimeter surveillance, and collision avoidance. This represents a transformative step forward in maritime technology.
In light rain, SEA.AI will be able to detect objects but its detection range will be reduced, and in very heavy rain, objects cannot or will not be detected anymore.
In the fog, a thermal camera can see 3x further than the human eye, keeping in mind that SEA.AI has the same physical limits as all optical sensors.

Being an optical system, SEA.AI´s performance thus degrades in fog and rain. SEA.AI and Radar are therefore complementary systems with different benefits and limitations.

SEA.AI systems can see up to the horizon, but the actual detection range is dependent on the mounting height, the size of the object above the water, the SEA.AI model and the environmental conditions.
SEA.AI systems are in example able to detect :

– Sailing Boat up to 7500 m with the Sentry, 2000 m with an Offshore/Competition 640, and 1000 m with an Offshore One.

– Man Over Board up to 700 m with the Sentry, 150 m with an Offshore/Competition 640, and 100 m with an Offshore One.

Up to 2 users can use the application at the same time on their devices. It is also possible to take over control even from additional devices. E.g Navstation or tablet inside the boat.

Yes. SEA.AI can also be very useful during port manoeuvres providing additional eyes especially during the night or to see above a jetty or pontoons, and thus anticipate any potential collision with other moving vessels.
SEA.AI can detect floating objects on the water surface. It cannot see through the water surface and detect object completley under the water such as sand banks or reefs.
As any other targets on the surface, SEA.AI systems are capable of detecting marine mammals.

Yes, SEA.AI, with its thermal cameras, can detect objects at the same temperature thanks to differences in the emissivity and reflectivity of materials, and the camera’s ability to detect variations in infrared radiation from different surfaces.

Each material has its own emissivity, which determines the efficiency with which it emits heat, so that objects similar in temperature appear differently.

Reflectivity also influences the thermal image, as some materials reflect more of the surrounding radiation.

Finally, infrared variations on surfaces can be detected, enabling objects of equal temperature to be distinguished. For example, a container and water, although at the same temperature, emit infrared radiation differently, making the container visible.

Using latest camera technology in combination with artificial intelligence, SEA.AI detects and classifies objects to alert crews early and reliably about objects on the surface of the water, day and night.

A Convolutional Neural Networksis (CNN) is a class of artificial neural network that performs segmentation, classification, and detection for a myriad of applications such as maritime safety. Computer vision analyzes images, and then creates numerical representations of what it ‘sees’ using a CNN.

AI, or artificial intelligence, refers to the development of computer systems that can perform tasks that typically require human intelligence such as learning, reasoning, problem-solving, understanding natural language, perception and interaction with the environment.
As a subgroup of artificial intelligence (AI) and deep learning, computer vision trains convolutional neural networks (CNNs) to develop human vision capabilities for automated applications.

Thermal cameras, also known as infrared cameras, work by detecting and capturing the infrared radiation (heat) emitted by objects. Unlike visible light, which the human eye can perceive, infrared radiation is not visible to the naked eye. Thermal cameras use special sensors and optics to capture this infrared radiation and convert it into a visible image that represents the temperature differences across a scene.

To train our models, we create representative training and test datasets from our large annotated maritime database, which continuously expands with new images capturing a wide range of scenarios. The training set is used to train our AI models using backpropagation. This is a method which, through mathematical optimization, leads the model to correctly detect objects within an image. We apply various data augmentation strategies during the training process to maximize the models’ generalization capabilities. These strategies involve modifying the training images in different ways to help the models learn more robust features. We also perform hyperparameter tuning to find the optimal values for various variables that control the learning process. This involves systematically testing different configurations to ensure the models achieve the best possible performance. Finally, the test set is used to evaluate the models’ performance by comparing annotations to the models’ predictions. This continuous evaluation helps us assess how well the trained models detect objects in unseen data, ensuring they perform well in real-world scenarios.
