“The Sentry system provides additional navigational safety, allowing us to detect thermal differences even in poor visibility conditions. This is crucial for spotting fires, monitoring non-visible heat sources, and even detecting people in the water during search and rescue operations.”
Eduard Ercegovic
Technical Director at Aircat Vessels and Master Mariner
“While I navigating at night in the Atlantic, an alarm suddenly went off. Within seconds, I spotted a cargo ship directly in my path, with no lights or AIS. Thanks to SEA.AI’s real-time detection, I was able to avoid a collision in time. ‘Without SEA.AI, I would have crashed into it. It’s an indispensable safety feature on board an IMOCA today.'”
Yoann Richomme
Skipper on IMOCA 60 – Paprec-Arkea
“During the last double-handed Transat with François Gabart and Tom Laperche aboard. […] Several small fishing boats were avoided thanks to SEA.AI. These boats were not visible on the radar and did not have AIS.
The only way to spot them was through the camera, which alerted us to the danger of a collision.”
Jean-Marie Clément
Head of electronics – Merconcept
“I can recommend SEA.AI at any time. The system is operational, it works, it is simple. It is innovative and modern. It can also be used on a small iPads or on a onboard computers. And it is truly a modern technology for everyone and can significantly enhance safety.”
Boris Herrmann
Skipper on IMOCA 60 – Malizia
“This camera already has some incredible innovations because the technology has allowed us to incorporate more things. It has artificial intelligence and it has imaging software that informs us of what we are seeing. At the end of the day, even though all the high-speed ship are required to have two officers, always looking ahead in case we find something, it’s like having a third officer looking, because as soon as it detects any object it gives you a warning saying something is there.”
Ivan Fernandez
Head of Technical Department at Fred Olsen
“The worst outcome is having to abandon the race because of something that was beyond my control […] Oscar (SEA.AI) is detecting floating objects I could potentially have a collision with. So he’s detecting all kinds of floating things and then sorting them out.”
Samantha Davies
Skipper, IMOCA 60 – Initiatives Cœur
“I think SEA.AI is a great tool. I would say this is a tool for the future. We need to use it more and more. It was two years ago during the Transat Jacques Vabre with Sam Davies, Initiatives Cœur with the help of SEA.AI, we were able to avoid a collision which with a very small fishing boat along the African coast.”
Nicolas Lunven
Skipper, IMOCA 60 – HOLCIM-PRB
“I have used SEA.AI for two years. It was on the boat when I bought it from Alex Thompson. We had a really good experience with it on the Bermuda 1000 miles at the beginning of the year. We were downwind, our AIS was not really working, and the SEA.AI system started beeping 30m away from a big fishing boat. We just had time to change our course and pass about ten meters away of that big fishing boat. If it wasn’t on, we would have crashed the boat into the fishermen. So, it works.”
Alan Roura
Skipper, IMOCA 60′, Hublot
“Colliding with objects and other boats is one of the biggest dangers we face on these kinds of boats. Because it’s going so much faster than before, and we’re in closed cockpits, it can get quite dangerous. So, SEA.AI is a valuable asset to enhance safety. I’m happy that it exists; it’s a great tool, and I hope it continues to improve in the months and years to come.”
